Things you can do to help
Transport dogs to or from foster or adoptive homes, or help coordinate transportation in your area.
Provide foster care. This is essential for the success of the program and foster homes are always needed. We need a place for the dog to be evaluated and made ready for a permanent home.
Make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation. Rescue has changed and we are seeing dogs with more issues requiring veterinary care to make them adoptable and give them a chance for a happy life. We are no longer dealing with just a re-homing here and there! We are a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit organization.
You can help without fostering!
Evaluate dogs coming into rescue for purebred status. Many shelters call us thinking they have a Cavalier when it really is a Cocker or another breed.
Educating Prospective Adopters. We have an opportunity to educate the uninformed and clear up misconceptions about Cavaliers and the rescue program. This is often a great opportunity to explain why buying from a reputable breeder is preferable to all other resources.
Preliminary Screening. Applicants should be prescreened through telephone interviews, and veterinarians should be contacted to verify up-to-date care for current and/or past pets, if applicable.
Educate others by visiting local shelters, vet offices, pet stores, training centers, and animal control officers. We are available to help in evaluating Cavaliers’ unique medical needs. We are also available to help find understanding and caring homes.
Provide transportation for part of the rescue’s journey to foster homes. Many of our areas are large geographically and your help could make a real difference.
